Improve your life“- I’m quite sure you’ve heard this thing already for a plenty of times.

Feeling stuck in life? – Improve your life! Or feeling that emptiness? Improve your life! But nobody really explains how to do that. Even the person giving the advice often don’t know what they’re actually trying to mean. Because there are already billions of things you’ve done from the time you were born to be where you’re today.

Maybe you’re already in a better condition than 90% of the population. But still there’s a crumbling feeling that things could be better. You don’t know where to start. Even worse, you’re already too exhausted to go and try something big or bring a massive change in your life.

The best thing to do in these cases is to try doing simple things that basically take small to no efforts at all. It’s motivational and uplifting.

1. Do Exercise Regularly

Exercising regularly not only keeps your body fit, but also keeps your mind fresh playing a huge role in improving your life. Doing exercise regularly can play a massive role to in improving your mental health too.

However exercising regularly doesn’t always mean hitting the gym and spending hours trying out things that you haven’t really tried before. Exercising can be as simple as:

  • Stretching
  • Skipping
  • Jogging
  • Attending some fun workout classes

Meanwhile, you can also try to do some mental exercises such as:

  1. Learning a new language
  2. Solving puzzles
  3. Trying a new drawing form

2. Wake up early

There are many people who simply wake up at a late morning and never really pay attention to it. Sleeping till late morning can be feel comfortable and sometimes harmless if you’ve been working till late night. But, if you will head over in the daily life of all those people who wake up late, then soon you will understand that, most of these people cannot really get done anything much throughout the day.

For example, when you wake up at a late morning, you’ve your breakfast late while your other family members might have already started for their works. In this way, you not only became late, but also missed out on the chance of sitting together with your kids or parents.

And while you finish your breakfast, it’s time to prepare your lunch. So you feel like you’re always on a treadmill trying to satisfy other’s needs.

But the reality is, if you woke up earlier, you could have done a workout, go on a walk maybe to enjoy the morning nature and do so many other things for yourself and have a sound sleep at night.

Because not to mention, the mental fatigue and stress you’re facing is going to affect your sleep schedule to some extent resulting you in repeating the same old cycle again.

Now mind you not, but building a reading habit is not something anyone can do. Yes, anyone can pick up a book and read a page or two but that’s not how you build a reading habit which is going to help you to improve your life.

It takes dedication, passion and a sense of joy to be able to satisfy your thirst for the topic that you’re passionate about.

In this way, you’re not only strengthening your brains circuits and capacity to hold information, but also improving your communication skills which you might have been struggling with. 4. Get Enough sleep

I could ask – “What was the last time you had a sound sleep?” But the meaning of a sound sleep varies from people to people. So my question is, “What was the last time you woke up with any sorts of fatigue?”

When I was younger, I used to find the idea of having a full sleep very useless or offensive to some extent. I mean how can you waste 8 hours sleeping each day in this small life when you’ve so many other things to do?!? And I’m quite sure that many people nowadays think in this way too.

I feel like sleeping is the biggest part of our health which is being overlooked the most nowadays. Lack of sleep makes your problem solving and decision making capabilities weaker while making it more challenging to interact with the people around with a good mood and behavior.

I mean, if you’re avoiding something thinking it’s a waste of time which is affecting your work system now, then what’s the whole point?

On the other hand, getting enough sleep can be life changing and improve your life. It is both good and crucial for your mental health and physical health. So start building a good sleep schedule to slightly improve your life.

5. Listen to Musics (Unhesitatingly)

I know you didn’t expect it to be on the list. Because WHO IN THIS WORLD DOESN’T LIKE LISTENING TO MUSICS?!?

Moreover, there is nothing new to say that how much helpful listening to musics can be in improving your life! First of all, you can have unlimited enjoyment and it makes your mood refreshed. Secondly, it can help you to read books effectively, sleep better. On top of that, it can also help you by making your regular boring tasks super enjoyable. 

But nowadays people mostly listen to musics to either feel relatable or sometimes to show off their music taste.

Music taste! Ah! I guess that’s the point of this point. Cause it’s quite crazy how many people are being judged and shamed nowadays for listening to certain musics or certain artists.

Some people will also go on breaking friendships or relationships just because their music tastes didn’t match. I cannot explain how many times I had to stay silent because I realized that my friends could find me too different or not relatable. And worse, my music taste is actually versatile unlike others who have passion for a certain type which makes me more weird.

But I just want to let you know that it’s TOTALLY FINE! If you’ve to worry too much about being judged for such a silly thing, then you know who you’re around with. Embrace what you love and embrace it with smile and love and with NO HESITATION! And this non-judgemental mentality towards yourself will certainly improve your life.

6. Learn New Things

Learning new things can have several positive impacts on your life. First of all, through learning new things, you can master up different invaluable skills that will help you a lot to improve your life. Secondly, if you’re an adventure lover, then learning new things can be considered your favorite task. 

Because, from my perspective, to feel some sort of adventures it’s not essential to climb a high hill or doing something like that. When you try to learn an utterly new thing that you’ve never learnt before, then there can be no more mentally intense adventures more than that.

Learning new special skills can also help you to grow your self confidence and your personality helping you to improve your life ultimately.

7. Teach Others

There are a masses of people out there who think that when we desire to teach others, we must be an adept of the field. Otherwise we can never be a good teacher. And guess what? this mentality will never let you improve your life.

Because it’s nothing but a small myth. I agree that without having a proper set of knowledge about something, you can’t teach it to others. But, it doesn’t mean that you will have to have a college degree or something like that on that topic for teaching others. There are various topics where you can just teach from your experiences and journey. You just have to turn that piece of knowledge into a proper story or something that’s worth learning.

For example, in online nowadays you can find several young teachers who are making different informative videos about different topics and sharing it with others and the whole world. Not necessarily every of them has a degree on that topic or a job that’s related to it. But see! they still have a lot of people finding it useful and appreciating their works. Because they know how to share their voice and make it heard.

It’s being possible because people teach others mostly from their experience. When you’re learning something from the beginning or maybe if you’re being in the middle, then you can share your experience with others who are also reading it.

Moreover if you’re learning something extremely technical or difficult, teaching it to others can make the process of learning and understanding easier and overall making your lessons easier and thus improve your life.

Giving away your knowledge between others can make you extremely broad minded. So start following the method from today to improve your life.

8. Learn to Learn From Everyone

We learn something from everyone who passes through our lives.

There are loads of people around us who think that they don’t need to learn things from others after a certain age. And I am seeing it a lot in older people nowadays. Some even become pissed off when the young ones try to introduce them to a perspective they were not introduced with. This is a sheer reason behind you can see many parents-kids relationships screwed up nowadays.

A mindset like that “I’m always right” will always lead to conflicts and other bigger problems. You should have the confidence to stand on your point as well as the wisdom to change some parts of it or embrace new thoughts.

If you open your eyes, you’ll realize how you can learn to show empathy or get the courage to slow down from the nature around you when things are seeming to go too fast. You can also learn wonderful things such as not hiding emotions or forgiveness from the children too that can improve your life.

In this way, you’ll finally learn to pay respect to the people around you and their opinions. Which will improve your social life and ultimately will improve your life.

9. Make Your Own Meals

There are some people who absolutely love to eat out. Others don’t really feel the urge to make foods at home.

At the end of the day, everybody has free will. right?!? And there are some who are addicted to eating junk foods. A few months ago, I met this person who’s daily meals are things like burgers, grills and fries. I mean, he literally cannot eat anything except these. By ‘anything’ I mean the traditional healthy foods. And he has been doing it for years now.

Some other people go out to eat because they don’t get time to make their meal by themselves.

In these cases, where life might be fair, unfair or both to you, I’ll still suggest eating homemade foods at least for once a week. Not just because it’s healthy and you know all the ingredients that you’re using ensuring you’re not being fed any foods that are made look delectable artificially by adding colors and other toxic materials, but also it can be a good source to spend time by yourself which will help you to improve your life.

Like making your own meals while thinking about your life while slowly taking a break from this busy world. Because, chances are, you spend most of your weekdays with your colleagues or peers that you’re barely left with any time to spend it with yourself.

You mightn’t have enough time to take yourself on a date. But making your own meals can be a nice start in the journey of improving your relationship with yourself. And thus you can slightly improve your life more than it already was.

10. Eat Vegetables More

I’m actually quite surprised to have seen the number of people who have never eaten vegetables in their lives. Others simply stopped eating vegetables by time. Specially to many kids and teenagers, vegetable equals to nightmares.

At the end of the day, who really cares about eating the tasteless foods when you’ve so many delicious protein and other resources around you nowadays?

However, A Study by The Harvard School of Public Health found that even modest consumption of red or processed meat significantly increases the risk of type 2 diabetes — an illness that can cause debilitating health problems, including blindness, kidney failure, heart attacks, and strokes.

On the other hand, you can be greatly privileged by eating vegetables. First of all, most vegetables are naturally low in fat and calories. Secondly, Vegetables are important sources of many nutrients, including potassium, dietary fiber, folate, vitamin A, and vitamin C. Which makes it clear how important it is to have vegetables which can improve your health and overall improve your life.

If you don’t like eating vegetables directly, try eating it with other recipes. There are many examples of it online. For example, at our home, we often cook meat with potatoes or fish with other vegetables. Adding more vegetables to your routine can definitely be a great move to slightly improve your life.

11. Be Careful While Making Friends

In the different stages of life, we get to make many friends. We build bonds that are unbreakable. We connect with some people more than with anyone we ever could.

Most people define friends as someone who satisfies their needs of emotional support and fun times in life. But you shouldn’t always look for people who are good to you. But also those who are good for you. Because, these are the people we spend the most time with.

It’s not easy to avoid bad influence as nobody is particularly good or bad. But always go for people who are kind and genuine in general. Cause I guess these are the only things that can define a person best.

Also, make sure to have that emotional strength to understand and accept when it’s time to let someone go. Being careful while making friends will definitely improve your life.

12. Don’t Make Close Friends on Internet

Internet is indeed a great way to do networking and build connections. But you know it has gotten out of hand when you realize that many young people are literally shouting at their family members when they’re called to socialize or spend times with them.

Many of these people somehow maintain a perfect online presence and suffers with socialization. AND IT’S LITERALLY NOT A JOKE ANYMORE!

In fact, it has become a common issue for the teenagers and young adults nowadays. Loads of teenagers are being victims of cyber-bulling only by making friends carelessly on internet. And it’s something that is affecting their childhood a lot. Not only that, many of these are going though scams and traumas which are often coming in the disguise of “virtual relationships.”

So you should always keep an eye out that you or anyone you know isn’t getting too used to the internet world.

If you think that your closest ones don’t understand you well, why not try to sort it out with real solutions rather than immersing in a virtual world which has no real existence literally which might actually help you a lot to improve your life.

If you suffer with social anxiety, seek professionals’ helps. But don’t just mask it with fake perfection. Nourish the real relations more to improve your life. . Those are the ones that stay.

13. Be Aware of ‘Big Friend Groups’

I don’t know if it’s only me, but I’ve seen many big groups falling out terribly. Not in a mindful way though always, since most of them are the ‘good bye’s’ that were never really said. So it gives more emotional pain than ever. Specially to those who truly nurtured it and couldn’t just leave unlike others.

Also, in such big groups, I’ve seen people getting extremely toxic and gossiping against their own friends. Moreover, if there’s one person who’s mostly considered as the life of the group, others might be biased towards her, whereas anyone else in the same group might go through terrible loneliness.

Because the real loneliness doesn’t come from being alone, but actually from feeling alone in a crowded room.

But still these groups exist. I just feel that you’ve to be super lucky to find one. But if you’re the kind of person who aims at leaving a peaceful life more than a chaotic and dramatic one, maybe you should be a bit aware and thus you can improve your life.

14. Plan a Schedule Just Before Going To Bed Each Day

As someone who struggled with time management quite a lot, I had to experiment a lot on what works for me the best.

At first, I tried to make a schedule for a week in advance. But soon I realized that my days are too unpredictable to actually predict a whole week. And it only brought disappointments.

Then I tried waking up each day and make a schedule and start the day. But the reality is, I used to wake up definitely but my brain used to be too sleepy to actually analyze or think. So, I would be completely out of ideas on what to do resulting in picking up the phone ultimately.

So, I decided to make a small to-do list everyday before going to bed to improve my life. I didn’t plan the whole day, but just a clear instruction on beginning the day without being confused.

If you’re also like me who’s good at scheduling but is bad at maintaining it, then you can also try doing what I did to improve your life. .

Don’t judge yourself harshly based on the past experiences of not being able to keep up. Be hopeful for the new day. Keep a small task like saying prayer or taking a shower in the beginning which is primarily easy but will make you alert while you just follow what was written on that note.

Planning a schedule each day just before going to bed can be a great way to improve your life.

15. Be Around At least One Person Who is Better Than You

Always associate yourself with people who are better than you. – Warren Buffett 

A person who is simply slightly better than you in your field. Someone who makes you feel a little uncomfortable every now and then with their skills. Someone who doesn’t make you feel small, but reminds you that how you really need to push forward now to improve your life.

One pattern I’ve noticed in many so far is that they only like to be around who are slightly weaker than them or maybe at the same level. You surely might achieve a sense of domination by being around someone who is smaller than you constantly or feel a sense of relief by being with someone who’s just like you.

But these feelings are not what a person who wants to grow truly would aim for.

And when you finally meet a person like mentioned above, make sure to not act on that slight insecurity or discomfort. Instead be friendly, inspired. You’re not there just to take something, see what you can offer.

Just because someone is good at a certain field than you doesn’t necessarily mean that they can’t have any need. Treat them with the same kindness and feeling of belonging that you wish to have in your life. Following this, you can obviously slightly improve your life.

16. Have a walk in the Fresh Air for At Least 40 Minutes Each Day

Having a 40 minutes walk outside everyday is not just a good habit or a simple exercise, but actually the benefits are too many to count.

  • Walking in a regular basis helps you by improving your blood circulation.
  • Helps you to lighten your mood
  • Lose your weight
  • Makes your muscles stronger.

Moreover, just think how proud you would be of yourself after building a real habit which is actually really simple in this case. Simple yet a great way to improve your life.

17. Keep a Gratitude Journal

There were a series of days when I felt that I was the unluckiest person on the earth. I had everything yet nothing. I was feeling empty and soulless.

In fact, I tried to find out one single thing that I actually asked for and got perfectly. But couldn’t find any which made me cry more. Just when I was about to give up, I picked up a notebook or a bare page, I guess, as the last hope to find any meaning.

And then I wrote a line- “I’m lucky because I can overthink at least in my own room and in my own bed” And from then on, I focused on adding at least one thing to the note book.

A gratitude journal doesn’t have to be fancy or anything like that at all. Just a notebook with some clear pages and a pen can be your new start when you had almost forgotten to see beauty in the small things in life.
